In my days marketing new technologies I spent a lot of time trying to come up with new content. White papers, blog posts, and even social media missives can be time consuming. In short, creating content can be a daunting task for marketers. Not only does it require a lot of time and effort, but you also need to come up with something new and interesting that will capture your audience’s attention. And if you’re like most marketing executives, you don’t have time to waste. That’s where AI tools can help. In this blog post, I’ll discuss how to use AI tools to write better and faster, so you can focus on what’s important – growing your business!
Types of Content You Can Create with AI Tools
If you are a content marketer, author, or other digital marketing professional, you can use AI content creation to improve your ability to take your content ideas to fruition. Once you determine your target audience you can use AI to generate an outline, an intro paragraph and more. It works especially well for short form content and to fill in the gaps in your long form content. Here are some ideas of how you might use AI to manifest your content strategy.
- Writing content that will rank well in search engines (think FAQs in Schema markup)
- White papers (especially providing editing and compelling calls to action)
- Social Media posts
- Copy for landing pages
- Press releases
- Email Subject Lines
- Product Descriptions
- SEO Meta Descriptions for Websites
- Generate Topic Clusters
- Improve content effectiveness of existing writing (web sites, product briefs, white papers, etc.)
AI Generated Content
I often spend time coming up with ideas and creating content. It’s a labor intensive, mentally taxing process. Getting started is hard. And then landing the plane without being redundant can also be even more difficult. That’s how I mainly use these content tools, as a way to bring in fresh ideas and to improve low quality content.
I liken these tools to the what happened in the movie Finding Forrester. As the story goes a young high school student named Jamal finds a reclusive author living in a decrepit apartment building. Forrester begins to mentor Jamal, and helps him develop his writing skills. Eventually, Jamal becomes a published author. In one part of the story, Forrester (played by Sean Connery), he uses the opening paragraph of one of his articles to spark Jamal’s creativity to write an essay that was so good that it caused Jamal’s instructor to become suspicious. It’s a very good movie, so I don’t want to spoil it but that tactic for creating valuable content has stuck with me for over 20 years.
Create Content with Artificial Intelligence Tools
In the world of cloud and systems management it’s common practice to create chains of tools where the output of one tool informs the input of others. This automation increases a cloud operator to improve his productivity and streamline his workflow. I use AI tools in the same way. I take an idea and then use them to flesh it out.
Jasper
Jasper is a powerful AI tool that can give you a competitive advantage and supercharge your marketing processes. It’s perfect for marketers who want to produce high-quality content without spending a lot of time or money. Jasper.ai can help you research and gather information quickly, so you can focus on writing great content that will engage your audience. Overall, Jasper.ai can create the framework for well-written articles. However, I find it’s like a scaffolding that I can fill out with my own personality and style.
Outwrite
Outwrite is another useful piece of AI driven software. It’s integrated into my browser and allows me to select text and rewrite it. It is somewhat redundant with other tools, but the key feature for me is the ability to rewrite awkward sentences or those written in passive voice, and rewrite them in active voice to improve the quality of my writing. I think this improves my writing greatly.
WordAi
I like WordAI to refresh content. You can put in a copy of a page that needs refreshing, and it can help improve the clarity of writing. It also ensures not duplicate content, which can lead to penalties when trying to optimize content for search. One trick I use for content marketing artificial intelligence
Grammarly

I use Grammarly for email, word documents, even texts, along with providing an integrated way to copy edit my work.
WordTune
WordTune is another browser add-on that saves me a lot of time. It gives me an easy way to refresh content or to expand what I wrote in the past. For example, the example below is from a talk I gave in 2019. I’d like to give an updated talk, and I want to expand what I have already created. I can use the WordTune AI tool to improve all aspects of the writing including the grammar and word choices.
Bonus: AI Tools for SEO

SurferSEO can help you research and gather information quickly, so you can focus on writing great content that will engage your audience. SurferSEO can create the framework for well-written articles. However, I find it’s like a scaffolding that I can fill out with my own personality and style. It’s main advantage is to help with keyword research to bolster your existing content. Though you still should consider tools like SEMRush and Ahrefs to do most of your top level research.
Artificial Intelligence Content Marketing
In today’s digital age, incorporating artificial intelligence into your content marketing strategy can greatly enhance efficiency and effectiveness. One way AI can assist is through natural language generation, which allows computers to analyze data and generate written language in a human-like manner. For example, you could use AI to chop up a longer piece of content, making a blog post or other type of rewriting an easy task. This technology can be used to automatically create various pieces of content, such as reports or articles, freeing up time for marketers to focus on other tasks.
In addition, machine learning can also help optimize content distribution by analyzing consumer behavior and making recommendations on the best platforms and times to share content. I use Hootsuite to schedule posts, this is not a content creation tool but rather a way to optimize my marketing process. As AI continues to advance, it’s clear that incorporating these technologies into your content marketing efforts can ultimately lead to greater success.

Finally, these tools can help you refresh content, improving the clarity and quality of your writing.
Disadvantages of AI tools
Artificial Intelligence tools aren’t a panacea. They have limitations, including the underlying model that they use. The most advanced model is GPT-3 from OpenAI which includes data from as recently as 2021. The bottom line is that the ability to create content relies on the quality of data incorporated into the machine learning model. So that means if the topic you want to write about isn’t in the model you can’t use it for creating content because it’s unaware. Also it will be unlikely that you will be able to incorporate your brand voice without human intervention.
Improve your Productivity and Content Quality Using AI
Although AI isn’t perfect, it has the potential to greatly improve productivity in your content creation process.
